Pallet distribution specialist Freightroute has signed a 30 truck deal with Northamptonshire-based Cesab dealership Hitec Lift Trucks.

Freightroute has 20 Cesab M325 counterbalanced diesel forklifts in use across its nine UK depots, with orders in place for a further ten M325s.

The 43-year-old family business maintains nine depots stretching across the UK. Freightroute’s network of depots delivers over 3,000 pallets every day through its fleet of 155 HGVs and 100 trailers.

Visibility through the forklift mast was a key factor in the decision, according to Freightroute managing director Gavin Grant:

"We needed to reduce equipment lifetime costs and ensure even greater safety on all our sites. We face real constraints with our double deck trailers and had previously had issues with other forklift brands damaging them, partly due to their mast height and inadequate visibility. This was affecting productivity and increasing costs.

"We have a good relationship with Hitec and worked with them to ensure a very specific mast height that would work within tight confines. The resulting masts on the Cesab M325s have reduced operational damage and increased the uptime of our trailer fleet.

"We've been impressed with Cesab's Intelligent Mast Design concept and how this gives operators far better sightlines through the two full free lift (FFL) cylinders. Our operators are finding the Cesab M325s easy to operate. They like the ergonomics, the good cabin access and overall comfort."

Adam Lantsbery, sales manager at Hitec: “We worked closely with Freightroute to understand their objectives and realised the significant benefits that the Cesab M300 range would bring to their operation. Ergonomics are central to the design of the range, helping to reduce fatigue and physical strain for operators. Combined with the benefits of IMD, this has delivered the solution that Freightroute needed."
